Southpaw FLHC have issued a new statement continuing their denial of recent racism and Nazism allegations. The controversy began after drummer Harrison Linder was photographed wearing merchandise from the brand Curbstomp, which has been linked to white supremacy.
The fallout from the incident has already resulted in Southpaw FLHC losing support slots and facing cancellations from several venues. Despite the backlash, vocalist Daryn LaMontagne released a video statement on August 15, asserting that the band is not racist.
Daryn LaMontagne criticized internet critics, stating that the band had built their reputation from nothing and would have admitted to such views if they were true. He suggested that the drummer’s choice of clothing was a mistake made out of lack of knowledge regarding the brand.
While the band continues to defend their position, reports have surfaced suggesting that Southpaw FLHC may have been dropped by their label, Spinefarm Records. The label has not yet provided an official comment on the status of the band’s contract.
