Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine will release a new memoir titled „In My Darkest Hour” on September 8. Published by Da Capo, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing and the Hachette Book Group, the book was co-written with Joe Layden.
The memoir provides an in-depth look at Dave Mustaine’s life, specifically focusing on his 2019 battle with throat cancer. Dave Mustaine described the experience of undergoing treatment as „very terrifying,” noting the psychological weight of the situation and the uncertainty of his recovery during that period.
During a special Q&A session on TalkShopLive, the Megadeth leader reflected on the importance of sharing his story of hope. He discussed the challenges of accessing high-quality medical care and expressed gratitude for the support he received from fans and peers while he was hospitalized.
Beyond the health crisis, „In My Darkest Hour” is expected to cover the broader history of Megadeth and Dave Mustaine’s enduring influence on the thrash metal genre. The book follows his previous autobiographical works, offering a more contemporary perspective on his recent personal and professional experiences.
