The legendary Norwegian black metal formation Mortem has officially confirmed the release of their next full-length album, Mørketid. The record is slated for a July 3, 2026, release via Peaceville Records. This upcoming project serves as the direct successor to their 2019 comeback effort, Ravnsvart, and aims to further establish the band’s historical position as one of the earliest progenitors of the Norwegian extreme metal scene.

Mørketid features a lineup consisting of high-profile industry veterans associated with Arcturus, Thorns, Mayhem, and 1349. The eight-track collection reportedly blends mid-paced, monolithic riffs with the blistering intensity characteristic of traditional black metal. Key contributors include Sverd on keyboards, Hellhammer on percussion, and Marius Vold providing vocals. The album’s production focuses on a balance of savage aggression and atmospheric depth. Fans of the genre can expect a continuation of the band’s legacy of extremity. Pre-orders have officially opened in conjunction with the announcement, providing early access to physical and digital formats of this anticipated black metal release.
