The legendary heavy metal outfit King Diamond has announced a major lineup change following the departure of longtime guitarist Andy LaRocque. The split concludes a professional relationship that spanned more than four decades and numerous classic albums.
In an official statement, the band expressed deep gratitude for LaRocque’s contributions to the legacy of King Diamond. The vacancy has been filled by guitar virtuoso Gus G., known for his work with Firewind and his previous tenure with Ozzy Osbourne.
Gus G. will take on full-time duties, including composing, recording, and touring for the band’s future projects. Meanwhile, LaRocque has stated that the decision to leave his musical „family” was not easy but was made in a respectful and friendly manner.
LaRocque is now shifting his focus to Lex Legion, a new group featuring former members of King Diamond and Pagan’s Mind. The group, which includes Mikkey Dee and Nils K. Rue, is set to make its live debut on November 28 in Goteborg, Sweden.
