The concert took place on August 1st at the Progresja club in Warsaw. It was a fantastic, summertime proposition for death metal fans who wanted to relax and have a beer with friends. I decided to go to this concert with my cousin, but when we arrived, we also met many other acquaintances, which only improved the atmosphere.

The club was full of metal fans, but it wasn’t overcrowded, allowing us to move around freely and enjoy the music. There were probably about 200-250 people in attendance, indicating the popularity of the event. The concert started with the band Czerń, featuring well-known veterans of the Warsaw scene. This band presented their studio EP titled „Czerń”, which was released on September 1st, 2022 under the Arcadian Industry banner. Czerń showcased their dark variation of hardcore, which resonated well with the rest of the lineup that evening. For a first band, the guys sounded quite convincing – it was easy to grasp the meaning behind their compositions, infused with the right dose of aggression and doubt.

After Czerń, the American band Frozen Soul took the stage. Their merciless assault of simple, icy riffs of old-school death metal, crushing drumming tempo, and guttural vocals elicited enthusiastic reactions from the crowd. Drawing inspiration from both classic death metal and newer sounds, Frozen Soul’s music remained brutally raw, influenced by the classics and refined simplicity. The band was promoting their second studio album titled „Glacial Domination”, released on May 19th, 2023 under the Century Media Records label. Their setlist included tracks like „Encased in Ice”, „Invisible Tormentor”, „Beat to Dust”, „Arsenal of War”, „Morbid Effigy”, „Death and Glory”, „Annihilation”, „Glacial Domination”, „Arctic Stranglehold”, and „Crypt of Ice”.

It is also worth mentioning that the recording session for Frozen Soul’s latest album featured John Gallagher of Dying Fetus among others. Their performance at the concert was certainly a very cool experience that will remain in the memory of many heavy music fans gathered that evening.

The main event of the evening was the concert by the American band Dying Fetus. Their flawless performance, technical virtuosity, and fusion of death metal with grindcore and hardcore sent the crowd into wild dances and headbanging. Dying Fetus merged great rhythms, technical skill, and catchy melodies with powerful brutality that captivated the entire audience. John Gallagher, the band’s vocalist, impressed with his charisma and stage presence. The guitarist and drummer also showcased their technical prowess, delivering endless energetic riffs and tempo changes.

Dying Fetus’ setlist included tracks like „One Shot, One Kill”, „Subjected to a Beating”, „We Are Your Enemy”, „Unbridled Fury”, „In the Trenches”, „Grotesque Impalement”, „Compulsion for Cruelty”, „Praise the Lord (Opium of the Masses)”, „Your Treachery Will Die With You”, „From Womb to Waste”, „Wrong One to Fuck With”, „Pissing in the Mainstream”, and „Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog”. Their performance was intense and energetic, leaving the audience fully satisfied.

The concert featuring Czerń, Frozen Soul, and Dying Fetus was an unforgettable event that allowed death metal fans to immerse themselves in a world of brutality, energy, and technical virtuosity. It was a concert that primarily proved Dying Fetus’ unwavering position on the throne of the technical death metal scene.
